Na Kama Kai runs free monthly ocean safety and conservation clinics that rotate around Oahu, and Pokai Bay in Waianae is one of the regular stops. Over about two hours keiki rotate through swimming, surfing, paddling, voyaging, and ocean-safety stations run by lifeguards, watermen and waterwomen, marine scientists, and Hawaiian cultural practitioners. Registration is free and opens two weeks before each clinic date, and caregivers stay on the beach for the session.
