Accessibility

HawaiiParents.com is built for every Oahu family, and we want the site to work well for everyone — including keiki and parents who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. In August 2026 we completed a full accessibility review of the site and fixed the issues it found — including screen-reader labels on all interactive tools (supply-list checkboxes, filters, calculators), visible keyboard-focus indicators, color-contrast corrections across the site, proper heading structure, and keyboard access to map and favorite controls. Accessibility is ongoing work, and we re-check as the site grows.

Known limitations

  • Some listing content (maps, photos) comes from third-party services whose accessibility we do not fully control. Every map has a text address alongside it.
  • Links to schools, providers, and government sites lead to external pages we do not operate; some link to PDFs.

Tell us if something is hard to use
