The City Ocean Safety Department runs free one-week junior lifeguard clinics each summer, and two of its sites sit on this side of the island – Ehukai Beach Park on the North Shore and Kokololio Beach Park in Hauula. Keiki train directly with working Honolulu lifeguards on rescue boards and tubes, learn how to respond to someone struggling in the water, and cover basic CPR and first aid alongside fitness and teamwork. Sessions are capped at fifty and fill within days of registration opening.
