Paepae o Heeia is a nonprofit that cares for the 800-year-old Heeia Fishpond (loko ia) in Kaneohe and offers place-based, eco-cultural education. Families and students can take part through guided field visits, walking tours, and community volunteer workdays focused on restoration and traditional Hawaiian fishpond management. All ages are welcome at community workdays, but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Note: Primarily school field trips and volunteer workdays, not a drop-in class; RSVP required by phone or email.
