Na Kama Kai runs free monthly ocean safety and conservation clinics that rotate around O’ahu, and Waimanalo Beach is one of the stops on the annual calendar. Keiki ages 2 to 17 rotate through roughly two hours of swimming, surfing, paddling, voyaging and ocean safety stations run by lifeguards, watermen and waterwomen, marine scientists and Hawaiian cultural practitioners. Clinics are free with donations welcome, sessions start every half hour from 9am, and pre-registration opens two weeks ahead on the Na Kama Kai site.
